Mission
Located within the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, the Center for Health Financing, Policy
and Management aims
to advance community, organizational and health system innovation and effectiveness, both domestically and
internationally, through leading-edge applied healthcare research, analysis, and knowledge dissemination.
The Center's Mission focuses on expanding society's?s knowledge to improve health system
performance and the
management of health care service delivery. In addition, the Center’s work encompasses consideration of financing
policies that align incentives to make necessary systemic and management change. The Center brings together leading
researchers from USC, other universities, and the healthcare community to collaboratively investigate the strategy,
structure, and effective operation of current and emerging delivery systems of health care, and to disseminate new
knowledge to improve health care delivery at the community, organization and systemic levels. The Center conducts
research into the operation and effect of accountable and affordable care, population health management, and the
effects of healthcare competition; educates practicing professionals and policymakers; and develops management and
policy strategies to support the development of quality- and cost-effective healthcare systems throughout the world.
Vision
The Center's vision is to meaningfully contribute to improving health and healthcare in local
communities,
California, in the U.S. and internationally.
To accomplish this, the Center will:
- Conduct primary research and evaluation to enhance healthcare organization, financing and
management practices in the areas of: population health management; accountable healthcare organization and management;
affordabl$
healthcare financing and delivery; and effective market competition;
- Serve as a knowledgeable, relevant resource on significant and emerging issues that will inform and shape the
transformation of healthcare to address society's needs;; /p>
- Forge community, statewide, national and international collaborations for health and healthcare system research
and education;
- Support the educational and professional development of healthcare leaders today and tomorrow
Engage healthcare practitioners and policymakers in developing solutions, knowledge dissemination and more effective
decision-making to improve communities and the healthcare system at all levels.
