The Alumni Guardian Awards is presented annually by the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development Alumni Association. The dinner honors and celebrates alumni and SPPD supporters who have shown dedication and leadership toward the betterment of their communities and the world around them.
Since its inception in October 2006, the dinner has become a new tradition for the school. Not only does the dinner generate a strong sense of pride and accomplishment among SPPD alumni, the Guardian Awards serves to frame the school’s graduates as a significant group, vital to the USC community.
Proceeds from the Guardian Awards go directly to the SPPD Annual Fund – which supports scholarships, classroom materials, and other learning opportunities for SPPD students.

The dinner gala will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at USC Town and Gown. The evening will include cocktails at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards ceremony at 7:00 p.m. This year the gala will incorporate the theme, "Guardian goes Green," to emphasize the school’s environmental awareness and emphasis on sustainability.
