Deepak Bahl has more than five years of professional experience in economic development, urban planning, and architectural design. He serves as Associate Director for the USC Center for Economic Development and Associate Director for the Community Development and Design Forum. His work experience includes project and organizational management; teaching at the graduate level at the University of Southern California; grant proposal and report writing; policy research and analysis; setting up survey instruments; mapping and design. He has managed and coordinated among other projects the Vermont Corridor Design and Development Study for the City of Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency; West Gateway Specific Plan for the City of Pasadena; Neighborhood Plans and Housing Study for the City of West Hollywood; and Feasibility Study for Desert Housing for Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
Recent research projects include Los Angeles Basin Economic Development Initiative -- Second Stage Paper: A Background Report (1999), and,Towards Developing Family Wage Jobs and Value Added Project Results: A Report (1998) published for EDA Seattle Regional Office. Mr. Bahl has conducted research on transportation project with the Federal Highway Administration and housing study with Fannie Mae; community needs assessments for the City of Long Beach and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center addressing health-planning issues. He received the Gordon Whitnall Award for Exceptional Promise for Achievement in the Field of Planning (1996). He has worked in architectural firms in a variety of capacities on residential, commercial and industrial projects in Bombay, Los Angeles, and San Diego. He received his Masters of Planning degree from USC School of Urban Planning and Development, Masters of Architecture from Clemson University, Clemson, and Bachelors of Architecture from Punjab University, Chandigarh, India. Mr. Bahl is currently pursuing a Masters in Real Estate Development at USC.
