Probabilistic Description of Ground Motion for Seismic Design of Highway Bridges
METRANS Seminar
When: Wednesday, March 26, 2008 : 12:00pm to 2:00pm
Location: University Park Campus, Ralph and Goldy Lewis Hall, Room 103
Our speaker will be Maria Todorovska, Research Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at USC. Dr. Todorovska is an expert in the fields of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology. Her presentation is titled "Probabilistic Description of Ground Motion for Seismic Design of Highway Bridges."
This seminar will introduce the concept of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis and probabilistic description of ground motion for the design of highway bridges. Probabilistic analysis will be contrasted with deterministic analysis. Various issues related to the input for such analyses, and different descriptors of the ground motion relevant to highway bridges will be discussed. The results of METRANS-supported and other research will be presented.
