Biographical Sketch
Elizabeth Currid is an assistant professor at University of Southern California's School of Policy, Planning, and Development. She teaches courses in economic development and urban policy and planning. Her research is in economic development with a particular focus on art and cultural industries. Professor Currid's research explores the role of nightlife and informal social environments in generating economic growth for cities. Her most recent work has been the study of Getty Images media photographs to track where cultural and entertainment events occur. She is currently writing a book on the economics of celebrity.
Professor Currid holds a B.A. in creative writing and a master's degree in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. She received her Ph.D. in urban planning from Columbia University in 2006.
