John Shea Speaker SeriesThe Lusk Speakers Series is a forum for students to interact with and learn from real estate professionals and alumni. Prominent developers, consultants, and other industry leaders come to campus for an informal seminar and lunch with students weekly through most of the academic year. Industry Night This annual event -- the most significant student real estate recruiting event in the U.S. -- serves as a networking and information gathering session for real estate students from throughout the USC campus. Over 150 students representing six different degree programs participate. The real estate profession is represented by some 70 companies from a wide breadth of real estate sectors, including: asset management, banking, brokerage, consulting, development, finance, investment banking, and mortgage banking. Students who are members of either the Trojan Real Estate Association or the Graduate Real Estate Association are eligible to participate. Resume BookTo ensure the real estate industry's awareness of the talent graduating from USC's various real estate degree programs each year the Lusk Center produces an annual resume book which includes a full-page resume of our program's graduates. This publication is circulated to a wide audience in the real estate community. Current USC students who are members of the Trojan Real Estate Association or the Graduate Real Estate Association may submit their resume for inclusion in the Resume Book. Mentor ProgramThe Lusk Center Mentor program provides students with a unique opportunity to broaden their educational experience through one-on-one interfaces with industry professionals. It also offers many benefits to Center members who serve as mentors, including the opportunity to work with bright and energetic students, the satisfaction of being a role model, and the opportunity to apply one's professional experience in career advising. Students meet with their mentors throughout the school year. Most students spend time at their mentors' offices, learning how real estate professionals manage their businesses, serve clients, work with their peers, and contribute to their communities. Some students have also visited development projects in which their mentors are engaged. These on-site visits have allowed the students to learn first-hand about the issues that developers face in developing a project from groundbreaking to the completion of construction. Other students have joined their mentors in attending professional meetings or conferences and networking with real estate professionals, an experience that students found most valuable. In addition, all mentors provided students with contacts in the real estate community. The Lusk Mentor program is open to current students at USC pursuing a masters level degree in real estate and who are members of the USC Graduate Real Estate Association. Salary SurveyEach year the Lusk Center publishes a Real Estate Employment Report summarizing the placement and salaries of USC real estate graduates. This Report is made available on the Lusk Center web site and serves as a valuable tool to recruit employers and prospective students to USC. |
Each year the Lusk Center releases a Real Estate Employment Report summarizing the placement and salaries of recent graduates from USC's real estate degree programs including the Master of Real Estate Development, the Master of Business Administration real estate concentration, the Bachelors in Business Administration real estate concentration, and the Bachelors in Public Policy, Planning, and Management.
