Executive Master of Leadership
The School of Policy, Planning, and Development is proud to offer the Executive Master of Leadership (EML), a program for leaders with leaders, who want career advancement and understand the value of a masters degree. This program is designed for you to lead from your core values and to profoundly contribute to your organization and community.
The EML offers working professionals the opportunity to advance their careers by obtaining an master's degree that applies to virtually any organization. Students who hail from a variety of fields including public administration, public policy, planning, law enforcement, transportation -- as well as other public, nonprofit, and business disciplines -- will have the opportunity to build leadership skills at five levels: individual, team, organizational, community, and institutional.
The program design offers participants insight into the mechanisms that facilitate effective personal and organizational networks, as well as collaborative problem solving strategies and practices. The program follows a cohort model, where students enroll in the four required core courses together as a single learning unit or group. Students must have at least five years of professional experience prior to enrolling in the program.
The degree curriculum has three distinguishing features:
-
transformational leadership that connects the public, private, and nonprofit sectors;
-
an interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary problem solving approach;
-
a design to connect ethics with leadership through core values.
