Master of Health Administration

Our healthcare system is undergoing profound change unlike any experienced before. Access, quality and cost of healthcare are critical public policy issues that affect every American. Healthcare and the healthcare industry account for more than 14 percent of the entire economy and involve complex and fast-moving developments in technology, economics, ethics, finance, policy and management. As an issue and as a sector, healthcare requires an understanding of public, private and nonprofit interactions. Visionary and effective healthcare leadership is needed as management structures and healthcare finance are evolving in a highly competitive, market-driven environment.

As the healthcare delivery system changes, career opportunities abound. No field has greater need for leaders and managers based in hospitals, health plans, physician practices, health-related enterprises and community health organizations, who possess the knowledge, skills and experience to shape the future of healthcare.

The USC Master of Health Administration (MHA) program, offered through the School of Policy, Planning, and Development, has strong ties to the healthcare community. The school's Board of Councilors is made up of top executives of healthcare, government and business organizations throughout California. The Health Administration program's Advisory Board comprise middle and senior leaders of healthcare facilities throughout California. Through coursework, internships and residency placement, USC MHA students have direct access to those who are shaping healthcare and healthcare policy throughout the region, state, nation and the world.
