Dr. David Chernof is a healthcare consultant and currently serves as president of the board of the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics, the non-governmental, non-profit medical and dental safety net for Santa Barbara.
Dr. Chernof practiced medicine in Northridge, California from 1968-1991. Over subsequent years he held positions as corporate medical director for Blue Cross of California, chief medical officer of L.A. Care Health Plan, and medical director of the Ventura County Health Plan.
From 1990-1991, Dr. Chernof was president of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. He has served on the SPPD Health Advisory Board for several years, including as its chair. Dr. Chernof presently is a Senior Fellow in the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development and an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA.
