Master of Public Policy

SPPD's Master of Public Policy program is renowned for bringing together leaders from business, government and the nonprofit sector to solve public policy problems. Ranked seventh in the most recent US News and World Report survey, the USC MPP program offers a comprehensive degree that integrates:

  • public policy formulation
  • analysis
  • evaluation
  • management

Core courses and specialized electives provide students with in-depth knowledge of the policy issues they care most about. Through coursework, interaction with faculty and practical experience, MPP students gain awareness of the political environment in which policy decisions are made and develop an understanding of the effects that decisions have on government, business and the community.

The USC MPP offers a number of distinct features:

  • program size allows one-on-one access to full-time faculty
  • faculty and students engaged in meaningful research
  • integration of analysis and management
  • a broad range of analytical skills
  • practical, real-world experience

The professional focus of the MPP program ensures that students will have the skills, tools, and theoretical context and background to be successful in this rapidly changing world. In addition to classroom and seminar work, MPP students engage clients directly in the policy practicum. Internships are generally paid and may be completed during the school year or in the summer.
