Admission

USC welcomes students who are freshmen, entering transfer students and undergraduates currently enrolled at USC who are in good academic standing.

Admission is based on an assessment of the student's academic background and potential for success at USC. For entering freshmen, this assessment is based upon:

  • high school grades
  • scores earned on the Scholastic Aptitude Test or American College Test
  • a writing sample
  • demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities
  • letters of recommendation

For entering transfer students who have completed at least 30 semester units (45 quarter units), the Admission Committee reviews:

  • college or university grades
  • a writing sample
  • demonstrated leadership potential
  • letters of recommendation

Because the SPPD major has such a strong liberal arts component and is part of a professional school, this undergraduate major is not found at most universities. Additional information on the admissions process and applications can be found on the USC admissions website: http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/.
