How do I make an appointment?
You may walk in at any time to make an appointment, or if we have slots available right then, take the test immediately. We do not accept appointments over the phone because the $20 fee must be paid at the time the appointment is made.
Is it a blood test?
No, it’s an oral sample. There are no needles involved and the results are just as accurate as a blood draw. You may go to the Orasure website for more information.
Can I have a copy of my results?
No. Because the test is completely anonymous, we only know you by a code. Therefore, the only person who can connect your face with your code is the person who tested you. Your results are then basically useless and we do not give them out nor do they go in your medical chart. They are shredded after your appointment.
Am I tested by a doctor?
No. Our anonymous HIV counselors are trained peer health educators. If you are interested in being a peer health educator, click here.
Can my girlfriend or boyfriend come with me?
Anyone can come with you TO the appointment. They cannot however, come into the appointment with you for either the test or the results. This is our policy, regardless of whether you give that person permission.
Are there other places in the community I can get tested?
Yes! Click here for an updated list of community clinics that offer free and anonymous testing.
