Measles and Mumps Immunity Requirement (Effective Fall 2007):

USC requires all students receive two doses of MMR or show proof of Measles and Mumps immunity prior to their fi rst semester of enrollment at USC. A photocopy documenting ONE of the following will serve as proof of immunity:

  1. Documentation (month and year) of receiving TWO doses of the combination MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccine (or TWO doses of Measles vaccine and TWO doses of Mumps vaccine
    OR
  2. Documentation of a positive Rubeola titer and/or Mumps titer (laboratory blood test)
    OR
  3. Documentation from a physician or clinic indicating a past diagnosis of the disease(s)

All documentation must include an offi cial signature or stamp from your physician or clinic. The first dose of Measles, Mumps or MMR vaccines must be given at 12 months of age or later. The second dose given 4 weeks (or later) following the first dose.

Students born prior to January 1, 1957 are considered immune and will automatically be listed as exempt from the Measles and Mumps requirement.

Students Unable to Provide Documentation:

Students unable to provide the required documentation, will be asked to receive the required vaccination (or titer) and provide us with that documentation. Documents must be submitted by the following deadlines:

Semester Deadline
Incoming Students for Fall 2007 September 7, 2007
Incoming Students for Spring 2008 January 25, 2008

 

All documents must include the students full name and 10-Digit USC ID number. Students may mail, hand-deliver or FAX required documents to:

IMPORTANT - Receiving a Measles Vaccination and TB Skin Test Simultaneously:

A Measles, Mumps or MMR vaccination and a TB Skin test may be performed at the same time. However, if not performed at the same time, students who have previously received a Measles, Mumps or MMR vaccination MUST wait at least 4 weeks from the date of their vaccination to have a TB skin test performed. (TB Screenings are required of International Students only. For additional information on this requrement, please see TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING REQUIREMENTS.)
