Emergency Contraception
Emergency contraception (EC) is a method of potentially preventing pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse. EC is effective if taken within 5 days after unprotected intercourse has occurred. Emergency contraception is available through the Advice Nurse at the University Park Health Center on a walk-in basis or at the Campus Pharmacy.
Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
Pregnancy testing and consultation is available at the University Park Health Center. This is a confidential service with a trained professional who will discuss your test results in a private setting and provide information and resources. To make an appointment, please call (213) 740-2778.
Annual Gynecological Exams, PAP Smears and Sexually Transmitted Infections
Routine gynecological examinations, that include pap smears*, pelvic examinations and breast exams, are conducted by caring professionals experienced in women’s health.
Check-up, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and diseases are also available, including HIV testing.
*PAP SMEAR: In order for the laboratory to process a reliable test result, please refrain from sexual intercourse for 48 hours prior to your test, refrain from douching and be off your menstrual cycle for two weeks.
Contraception Counseling
Students, who have questions regarding use and methods of contraception, are invited to schedule an appointment with a medical services provider.
