What Not to Bring
DC or 220-240 appliances
In the US, 110-120 electricity and AC power is the standard. Plugging in an appliance with different electrical standards can ruin your appliance or cause other damage
Local foods and pots and pans
A wide variety of food and cuisines are available in LA: Asian, South American, African, Indian, Middle-eastern, East European and Continental. The local grocery stores and supermarkets around USC are well-stocked with international ingredients.
Fruits, vegetables, meats and other items prohibited by US customs regulations

International Driver Permit
An International Driver Permit or License is not required under California law. As long as you are a non-resident, a valid driver license from your home country will suffice. For more information, click here.
You will need a California driver license, if you plan to buy a car, and on completion of a year in California, when you become California resident
