The purpose of the J-1 Exchange Visitor program is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges.
The University of Southern California has a long and proud tradition of facilitating such exchanges. We annually welcome more than 700 students and scholars in the J-1 visa category and they contribute much to the richly diverse “Trojan Family.” These Exchange Visitors return home having achieved their goals as well as having provided the university community with a fuller picture of the world in which we all live.
USC hosts foreign nationals in 5 different Exchange Visitor categories:
J-1 Students
J-1 Research Scholars J-1 Professors
J-1 Short-Term Scholars
J-1 Non-Degree Students
