Department and potential Exchange Visitor communicate regarding a possible visit

Department decides to invite the Exchange Visitor

Department requests DS-2019 from OIS

10 business dayslater OIS calls the department for DS-2019 pick-up

Department mails DS-2019 to Exchange Visitor

Exchange visitors completes form I-901 and pays the SEVIS fee.

Exchange Visitor goes to any U.S. embassy or consulate to request visa

Exchange Visitor enters the U.S. with Passport, Visa, and DS-2019

Exchange Visitor checks-in with OIS within 3 days of arrival at USC

OIS available to Exchange Visitor and department for questions and advice during visitor’s stay

Exchange Visitor submits DS-2019 for travel endorsement when leaving the U.S. during the period of appointment

OIS is available to process an extension of stay, granted that it is permitted by Exchange Visitor’s category

Department notifies OIS of Exchange Visitor’s departure, especially if it is 30 days or more before the program end date
