Training Tomorrow's Skillful Trojans

USC may now be known for our intellectual pursuits, but we have always been known for our athletics. Since being dubbed "Trojans" back in 1912, USC athletes have excelled in the international sports arena and one department on campus is making sure that all Trojans receive a proper well-rounded education–one that includes health, fitness and a bit of spirited competition.

USC Rec Sports serves the USC community in many ways. The Intramural Sports program is one of the most popular undergraduate and graduate student activities at USC with more than 9,600 participants. IM sports promote physical fitness and competition, social interaction, and student involvement and the tournaments and leagues are open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni of all skill levels. And if competition is not your thing, the fitness and wellness programs offer many services and programs for individuals including USC Workout (Yoga, Kickboxing, Scycling, and more), personal trainers, massage therapy, and general health and wellness info. Rec Sports also maintains a network of diverse Club Sports for students, ranging from the Ballroom and Latin Dance Club to Squash to Women's Lacrosse to the Ping Pong Posse.

The Ping Pong Posse is a great example of how students can work with Rec Sports to create their own athletic pursuits. The Ping Pong Posse started out as little more than a means to share the love of the sport of table tennis with the USC community. Founders Adam Bobrow and Angad Singh did not foresee the popularity of this new table-tennis club and membership exploded in a matter of days after its creation. Since its founding in the fall of 2002, the "The Posse" has drawn a membership of over three-hundred people, all of whom share a common interest in playing and promoting the sport of table tennis. Students come together frequently to hone their table-tennis skills and socialize.
