FAQ
Why do we need a new Campus Center?
In continuing the university’s efforts to improve the quality of community life and educational experiences for all its constituents, we need to update the one building that all members of the Trojan Family utilize as their campus “living room.” The need for improved student oriented space has been felt on the USC campus for many years. The current facilities do not offer enough meeting space for student organizations or services to meet the needs of our diverse customers. Students have noticed this issue throughout the years, and actually, were the ones that triggered the process for a new campus center. Also, many of the top-ranked universities across the country have been renovating their dated union buildings over the last few years. Thus, in order to maintain the status of being an innovative and world class research university, USC is committed to establishing a facility that will foster common experiences among all constituents of the university and will meet the needs of our Trojan Family for today and for future generations.
How will the architects incorporate student input?
Students, in fact, were responsible for initiating the process more than ten years ago by expressing their desire to have a Campus Center that would serve as a vibrant hub for student life and all members of the Trojan Family. During the design process, student representatives from the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) have been active members of the Campus Center Executive Committee, offering student input on both the building program elements and construction. Student Affairs and the Campus Center architects plan to conduct open forums for the campus community to solicit feedback during the construction process. Additionally, students may email comments, concerns, and ideas to campuscenter@usc.edu.
When will the projects be completed?
The Campus Center construction will be completed in late summer 2010, with the building set to open for fall semester 2010. The Student Health Center construction is also expected to be completed by summer 2010 and open for the fall semester.

How you can be involved?
The Board of Trustees has dedicated the initial financial support to fund building construction. We hope to garner support from alumni, friends, and fans of USC to provide additional resources that will ensure a campus center for generations, meeting the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s Trojan Family. Naming opportunities for major components such as the multipurpose room and the various meeting spaces offer exposure in high traffic spots. Lounges, offices, galleries, and service areas provide naming opportunities to honor groups or individuals. The new campus center and the surrounding complex is a wonderful place for families to express their affection for the Trojan Family. If you are interested in being part of this effort, please contact us at campuscenter@usc.edu.
