USC HOLDS ITS 2ND ANNUAL DENIM DAY

Student performers, including USC's Kosher Pig a cappella group, and a community organizer from Peace Over Violence participated in the annual Denim Day rally.

 

WSA HOSTS THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT AND TAKE BACK THE WEEK

The Women's Student Assembly held a series of events from April 6 through April 10 for the annual USC Take Back the Week. The annual candlelight vigil and rally featured keynote speaker Angela Rose, who started the first chapter of Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment. In 1996, a repeat sexual offender who was on parole for murder abducted Angela at knifepoint as she left her job at a suburban Chicago shopping mall. The rally ended with an open mic for survivors and their friends to speak out.

 

USC MEN CARE HOSTS DON MCPHERSON

Former NFL quarterback Don McPherson spoke on April 6 to more than 250 male students, including the USC football team, about the dangers of narrowly defining masculinity and about men's responsibility for sexual violence prevention. McPherson was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, after a college career during which he won more than 18 national player-of-the-year honors, including the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, and finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting. He also played for the Houston Oilers before retiring from football.

 

5th ANNUAL WOMEN's LEADERSHIP RETREAT
A dozen women spent the first weekend in April at a retreat organized by the Center for Women & Men, discussing leadership and gender issues in American society.
