Bibby defends resume amongst media inquiry

USC interim coach Henry Bibby put his resume on the table Monday afternoon for the permanent job as USC men's basketball coach and he put it there with an exclamation point.
He wasn't even openly campaigning for the job.
In fact, he clearly stated that his only focus at this point is the final two games of the season.
Bibby's resume came out because he was being one thing--Henry Bibby. Without using his solid credentials, Bibby backed himself up with passion and probably a little bit of anger and frustration at comments made about his team by the media.
But nonetheless, Bibby clearly laid out who he is.
     1. Bibby is about learning.
He wants to teach not only how to execute or defend a pick'n'roll but how to become accountable to oneself and the people around you.
Case in point: Oregon this past Thursday. Bibby sat both Avondre Jones and Stais Boseman down for arriving late to a team meeting.
"If I would have started those guys I would have lost more," Bibby said. "I would have lost everything we tried to put in for the last three weeks, we would have lost that. You don't only lose two players, you lose everybody else that's on your team ... I would rather lose the basketball game than lose the rest of the guys on the team and what we're trying to get across."
     2. Bibby has experience.
He has played on the NCAA Division I level, the NBA level and the CBA level. He's coached in the CBA, the USBL and on a club team in Venezuela. In total, Bibby has been involved with college or professional basketball for 26 out of his 46 years with 13 of those years involved in coaching.
"I'm the head basketball coach, it's going to be done my way," Bibby said. "I have enough experience in coaching to know that's the right way to do it and I don't second guess myself with whatever you say or anybody else says what I should be doing. I don't have any problem with that. I've done this before. This is not my first time doing this. I have experience doing this. This is my profession. This is what I know."
     3. Bibby wins.
Bibby is the only player ever to win NCAA, NBA and CBA titles as a player. As a coach, Bibby was named USBL Coach of the Year in 1986 and CBA Coach of the Year in 1989.
"I'll win basketball games, that's not even a concern of mine is winning basketball games," Bibby said. "I'll win basketball games because I've always done that. I know how to win basketball games but sometimes you're dealt a different hand that you have to deal with ... I can win in the Pac-10, that's not even an issue. But you guys don't know that. See that's what I know, but I don't need you to tell me that."
So there he is. Henry Bibby. Right now, he's the interim and he said he wants to be the head coach at USC. There will probably be more than a few applicants for the job once the season ends, but one thing is for sure, one knows what they are getting with Henry Bibby: an educator with experience, and a winner.
