Admission to
USC - Latino Tips
Students seeking admission to
the University of Southern California can visit the Admissions
website at http://www.usc.edu/admission.
First Generation College
Bound
If you are the first in your family to seek a college
education, please feel free to call on El Centro for complete
guidance and explanation. The admissions process can be scary,
difficult, confusing and frustrating. Although we are not an
Admission Office, we can assist students and parents better
understand the process. El Centro can also meet with parents
(in English and/or Spanish) to discuss the college experience
with them.
Recommendations
El Centro recommends that students follow closely the
guidelines set forth by the Office of Admission. In addition,
students should consider interviewing with an Admission
Counselor and visiting/touring the campus.
USC Campus Tours
Individual and group tours can be scheduled through the
university Admission Center at (213) 740-6605.
Student Life
El Centro offers supplemental guidance for prospective
students. Once a tour has been scheduled, students can contact
El Centro to possibly schedule a Shadowing Visit. El Centro
can arrange for prospective students to spend the day with a
current USC student, attend class, student organizational
meetings, and have lunch with fellow USC students.
El Centro will try to
accommodate each prospective student, however can not
guarantee that a supplemental tour will fit every schedule.
Contact El Centro at (213)
740-1480 or ecc@usc.edu
Admitted Students
Students who have already been admitted to USC and are not yet
sure about their enrollment can also take advantage of
supplemental tours and visits. In addition, should students be
participating in overnight programs through the Office of
Admissions, arrangements can be made for the student to spend
the night on the Latino Floors. Arrangements must be made
through El Centro Chicano.
Bilingual Services
Should students or parents need services in Spanish, they are
encouraged to request them through the servicing department.
For example, when scheduling a campus tour, please inform
staff person that a Spanish speaking individual will be on the
tour and will need translation services.
