  • PROSPECTIVE STUDENT INFORMATION

Welcome to the University of Southern California! The USC LGBT Resource Center is a national leader in LGBT student services and through our programs, services and collaborations with other campus departments we have created a LGBT and Ally inclusive environment for all students.

The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students named USC among the Top 20 “Best of the Best” LGBT-Friendly Colleges and Universities. Most recently, the university received a “five star” rating recognition from the LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index. The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition (GPAC) acknowledged USC as a diversity leader for its inclusive non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. In addition, to continue with recruitment of LGBT and Ally students, the center participated in the first west coast LGBT Admissions Fair sponsored by Campus Pride.

The University of Southern California welcomes and encourages applications from LGBT and Ally identified students. In fact, the center has worked with the Office of Admissions, the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Student Assembly (GLBTA) and OutReach to create the first in the nation college experience guide specifically for LGBT and Ally students. We invite you to browse through the experience guide for it contains admissions information, financial aid opportunities, and much more about LGBT life at USC.

OutReach: A Resource for Prospective LGBT Students

What is OutReach? OutReach is the only student organization at the University of Southern California that provides support to LGBT and
Ally high school students. Check out our information sheet.

How can OutReach help me? OutReach members are trained college consultants that mentor high school students. The consultants visit local Los Angeles high school Gay Straight Alliances and assist with leadership development for their members and provide a glimpse of college life.  The consultants are available to answer any questions you may have about USC.  OutReach is out and ready to serve.

How can I contact OutReach? You can reach OutReach via email or visit their facebook group page.

    Rainbow Floor Overnight Experience

The Rainbow Floor Overnight Experience is an opportunity for prospective students to vist campus, attend classes and spend the night on the Rainbow Floor. Prospective students will be matched with a current student living on the floor. Rainbow Floor residents have been trained to mentor prospective students.

The Rainbow Floor is USC's LGBT and Ally special interest floor. All USC students are encouraged to apply to live on the floor. It is located in Century Apartments. The Rainbow Floor provides an opportunity for students to live amongst other LGBT and Ally students, while also participating in programs that educate the residential community about LGBT issues.

If you are interested in participating in the overnight experience, please complete the application. Any questions? Email the LGBT Resource Center Director Dr. Vincent E. Vigil.
