Ground Zero acts as a performance space for on and off campus entertainers,
musicians, and comedians, great for a student interested in a career in
management, technical theatre, music industry, performing arts, or any customer
service field. Each working day is a different experience, creating an exciting
and challenging work environment for all employees.
Employment Opportunities at Ground Zero:
Barista
Reports to the Coffee Bar Manager. Duties include serving drinks, making
shakes, stocking and cleaning the coffeebar. A barista is responsible for the
tone and atmosphere of the coffee house when there is no performance going on.
Friendly students who enjoy interacting with all kinds of patrons should apply.
Audio Tech
Reports to the Technical Manager. Duties include setup and strike of
equipment for rehearsals and performances, as well as mixing shows. The audio
tech communicates with the client for an event to ensure their technical
specifications can be met. Students with working knowledge of sound equipment,
prior experience with sound mixing, and a passion for stage tech should apply.
All Ground Zero Staff should have:
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including: maturity, an ability to work
well with clients and artists, the ability to react to new situations quickly,
and to be able to make fast, intelligent decisions based on established
policies.
- The ability to lift heavy objects.
- Freshman or sophomore standing (or 2+ years of possible employment).
- Work Study (preferred), though it is not required.
Ground Zero is student-run, and all employees have excellent opportunities for advancement! Starting pay varies with position and experience
from $6.75 to $8.00.
