Parents Association Teaching and Mentoring Awards Information

The Parents Association and Office for Parent Programs welcome nominations for the Teaching and Mentoring Awards from all Trojan parents. The Teaching and Mentoring Awards is a signature program of the Parents Association and is the only faculty recognition award that is initiated by Trojan parents and family members. These awards symbolize an important aspect of how families support their students during college by encouraging you, the parent or family member, to engage your student in conversations about his or her coursework and academic pursuits.

The nomination process begins with you – ask your student who his or her favorite professors are and why. Then fill out the nomination form and mail or fax it to the Office for Parent Programs. The Office for Parent Programs will follow up with all nominated faculty members and send completed nomination packets to the Provost’s Office for review. The Provost’s Office reviews nomination packets in three categories: part time/adjunct, junior faculty and experienced faculty. The Parents Council Teaching and Mentoring Awards committee selects recipients from those approved by the Provost’s Office. All nominators and nominees (you!) are invited a private Teaching and Mentoring Awards reception during Trojan Parents Weekend. Faculty recipients receive a $1,000 honorarium, recognition in the fall Trojan Parent Perspective newsletter and their name inscribed on a plaque in the University Club.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to recognize your son or daughter’s outstanding USC professors!
