LGBT Community Gives USC Chance to Say "I Do"

Thursday, October 8

This fall, the USC Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community is giving its supporters the opportunity to say, "I do … support marriage equality."

For the last 11 years, the USC LGBT community has published the OUTlist — which includes the signatures of LGBT and ally students, faculty, staff and alumni who support a safe and respectful environment for everyone at USC — in the Daily Trojan.

Scheduled to run in the Daily Trojan on October 8, National Coming Out Day, the "OUTlist '09: Marriage Equality Declaration" will also act as a direct response to the passing of Proposition 8 — the initiative that banned same-sex marriage in California in November 2008.

The OUTlist will read: "This year, each one of us who has signed this list declares our support for marriage equality. Whether gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual or supportive ally, we advocate to legalize same sex marriage and repeal Proposition 8 in our state … Fight on for equality!"

To include your name in this list, please visit www.usc.edu/outlist. Participants may be emailed to verify that they submitted their names.
