USC Partners With Kennesaw State University To Explore Homelessness
"Welcome to the place you never want to end up," yelled a man on downtown Los Angeles' Skid Row, a homeless community of more than 10,000 people that covers 50 blocks. The man was addressing a group of students from USC and Kennesaw State University (KSU) in Atlanta, who were touring the area for a project on homelessness.

Typically known for its on-air programming, USC's award-winning television station Trojan Vision took home two high honors from this year's American Video Association (AVA) Awards, recognizing work by its special productions unit.

USC Bike Summit Puts Safety First
In an effort to promote a pedestrian-friendly environment, USC held its first-ever bike summit on Jan. 18 in the Ronald Tutor Campus Center Ballroom. The consulting firm Kendall Planning + Design (KDP) presented their research about USC bicycle safety to more than 100 students, staff, faculty, community members and representatives from DPS, USC Transportation, USC Cycling and the LA County Bicycle Coalition.

KXSC Goes Uptown With Campus Center Facilities
The crisp sounds coming from the speakers inside KXSC 1560 AM-Los Angeles, USC's independent student-run radio station, are a true sign of the times. With the opening of the Ronald Tutor Campus Center, the station's 60 music disc jockeys and sports broadcasters moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility.

Just Say Yes to Flu Shots
No one likes getting shots. But a two-second prick in the arm is the best protection against up to two weeks in bed with a high fever, crippling body aches and other painful symptoms of the seasonal flu. "The flu shot is very, very safe, and a smart thing to do for somebody who wants to prevent the flu," said Paula Swinford, director of the Office for Wellness and Health Promotion.

USC Recreational Sports Gets Cagey
Don't be intimidated by the name "caged" sports. Starting in spring 2012, USC Recreational Sports will expand their intramural programming with "caged" soccer and hockey, which promise to be a lot more fun than their names suggest. The sports will played on the university's new, multipurpose sports court.
