Elizabeth McCann - Director of Development
Appointed the first director of development for Student Affairs in April, alumna Elizabeth McCann spearheads a fundraising program that will carry the division through the Ronald Tutor Campus Center construction and beyond.
McCann is a third-generation Trojan who earned both her bachelor’s degree in English and American studies and her master's degree in public administration here, and worked for several years with University Advancement. She has spent the past five years as director of development for the California State University, Long Beach College of Education, and is glad to return to her roots.
"It's just wonderful to be back because there's so much energy on this campus," she says.
McCann intends to organize all of that energy into definite results, first and foremost in the form of the Campus Center, a major impetus behind the creation of her position.
"The Campus Center is something that, as a former student and as an alum, I see a great need for," McCann says.
Her immediate goal for the new development office is to raise $70 million for the Campus Center to support all of the building's programs and to strengthen the division's endowment.
As the first director of her kind, McCann is also responsible for building her office's infrastructure and shaping its day-to-day operations. The eventual product of that work will provide the ways and means for Student Affairs' vision for years to come.
