Althea Myrie, office manager for the Center for Academic Support, has shared her compassion and concern for students and their successes at USC for almost 22 years.

“Althea is responsive, dependable and, most of all, caring,” says Abi Ingleton, director of the Undergraduate Success Program. “She is a joy to work with because we’re both working toward the same goal—helping students succeed.”

Althea’s responsibilities include maintaining daily expense ledgers and program expenditures and monitoring the monthly account status reports for Disability Services and Programs, the Structured Curriculum Program and the Undergraduate Success Program. In addition, Althea helps analyze and prepare the annual budget and is responsible for the department’s payroll.

Since coming to USC, Althea has worked in various departments, including Job Development, International Relations, the Bookstore and International Admissions. She has worked in Academic Support and Disability Services since 1991.

“I like having the opportunity to interact with students, faculty and staff from diverse cultures,” says Althea. “I mentor students informally, helping them with personal development and life skills. The best part is helping them get through the rough times.”

Althea is particularly grateful to the university for the educational benefits it offers to staff and dependents. Althea earned her bachelor’s degree in social psychology from USC this past December and her daughter will graduate from USC this spring.
