Arvin Varma
Arvin Varma, assistant director of USC Recreational Sports, manages the Lyon Center and McDonalds Swim Stadium.
When not handling managerial responsibilities, Arvin is busy scheduling off-campus special events such as films, commercials, athletic games and community events. He also supervises the After School Sports Connection program at eight neighborhood elementary schools and serves as activity director for the summer National Youth Sports Program, co-coordinator of the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee and advisor for the Indian Student Association. In addition, Arvin teaches swimming classes, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) classes.
Arvin has worked at USC for 11 years, eight of those in Student Affairs. He received an M.A. in exercise science (sports psychology) from USC. He is a member of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) and the Southern California Public Pools Operators Association (SCPPOA).
Arvin enjoys being a part of the Trojan family because it is part of the unique USC experience: USC is so diverse, and it gives us the opportunity to grow not just in our professional but also in our cultural aspects. Having spent most of my life in sports, the concept of teamwork is very much a part of me and is so strong at USC.
