Chris Reilly
As the 2008 Interfraternity Council (IFC) President, Chris Reilly will focus on the presence and impact of the greek community on campus and improving lines of communication with campus communities.
Reilly was elected in November and took office in January. As president, he leads the IFC governing board, which acts as a voice for 19 fraternities.
For 2008, Reilly wants to continue successful programs that IFC currently supports such as Greek Week in the fall -- reinstated last year thanks in part to his detailed business plan. Reilly also oversees IFC’s greek study week program, sponsored by Dell Computers, and is planning the third annual comedy benefit this spring. Last year, he coordinated efforts for the event, which featured well-known comedians Russell Peters and Jeffrey Ross, and raised money for Stand up for a Cure and the Brent Shapiro Foundation.
“Chris is a master of communication with his peers,” says Beth Saul, director for Fraternity and Sorority Leadership Development. “He creates a lot of enthusiasm around new ideas.
Reilly, who is majoring in business administration and plans to graduate in 2009, hopes to go into the finance field, perhaps working for Citigroup Smith Barney where he is currently interning, and eventually attend graduate school.
At USC, he recently worked for the Athletics video department as both a videographer and a video editor for the football team – a natural progression for Reilly who started a video editing business when he was in high school. “It is a passion,” says Reilly. “But I really enjoy the business side of everything.”
One of the highlights of his time at USC is the 10-day trip to China he went on with a group from the Marshall School of Business when he was a sophomore. "It was really insightful," he says. "And very eye-opening."
Reilly says his favorite thing about USC is “the people, hands down.” “People talk about the Trojan Network and to be a part of it is great. To be around likeminded individuals, all very motivated, is really inspiring,” says Reilly. “USC is the perfect college for me.”
