Grant Hoover, a senior majoring in business administration with a concentration in communication and a minor in psychology, is a student who likes to make a difference on campus.

Currently, Grant serves as finance and administration director for Program Board, which involves working with the directors of 13 assemblies and committees. He also is a Resident Advisor (RA) for Parkside Suites and served on the planning committee for RA training.

Last year, Grant acted as Executive Director of the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Assembly (GLBTA), overseeing seven umbrella organizations, organizing program funding and planning events. Under Grant’s leadership, GLBTA was recognized as Student Organization of the Year at the Tommy Awards.

“Grant is a great leader,” said Vincent Vigil, director of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center. “He has taken GLBTA to the next level and set the bar higher.”

In his role as director of GLBTA, Grant helped the organization put on over 60 events, exceeding the six-event per year requirement.

“We have been getting so much support for our events,” said Grant. “It was just an awesome leadership opportunity to serve as director. It really helped me prepare for the position I am in now on the Program Board.”

He is also involved in Mortar Board and recently finished an internship with the non-profit organization Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

After graduation, Grant is planning to work in student affairs and is researching graduate school programs.
