Tom Studdert
Tom Studdert, director of Orientation Programs, completed his first orientation season at USC this summer to glowing reviews from students, parents and campus partners.
This year, Tom implemented two new components of the Orientation process, Pre-O and Post-O, to assist students with their transition to USC. Students complete Pre-Orientation Homework (Pre-O), which includes registering for a USC email address, learning the fight song and completing the New Student Interest Profile, when they register online for orientation. Their Post-Orientation Homework (Post-O), includes online submission of the student evaluation, parent data form and emergency contact information.
A highlight of Toms job is coordinating the activities of the orientation staff, including more than 20 student orientation advisors: I have the wonderful opportunity to work with the most fantastic group of student leaders. The orientation student team is just amazing!
Tom received a B.A., Secondary Education, from Arizona State University and a Master of Education with an emphasis in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University. Before coming to USC, he was the assistant director of University Programs and Greek Life at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and prior to that, he was the assistant director of University Traditions at Arizona State University. He is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and National Orientation Directors Association (NODA).
How does he describe his first-year experience? Having worked on campuses larger and smaller than USC, I love the fact that the Trojan Family concept is not just a myth, its truly a part of the working environment.
