USC Hosts Lecture on Security and Counter-Terrorism Efforts for 2012 London Olympics

WHATUSC's National Center for Risk & Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) will present its Distinguished Speaker Series with a lecture titled "2012 London Olympics – Large Event Safety, Security and Counter-terrorism."

WHO: Matthew R. Bettenhausen, vice president of security and chief security officer for AEG Worldwide,  the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world with venues including the STAPLES Center and the LA Live entertainment district in Los Angeles and the O2 arena and entertainment district in London, England. Previously, Matt was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to lead California's homeland security and emergency management operations as the Secretary of the California Emergency Management Agency.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 23; Lecture from 4 to 5:30 p.m., with a reception to follow

MORE: Established in 2004, CREATE is an independent, interdisciplinary national research center based at the University of Southern California in the Price School of Public Policy and the Viterbi School of Engineering and funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. CREATE's mission is to improve our nation's security through the development of advanced models and tools for the evaluation of the risks, costs and consequences of terrorism and to guide economically viable investments in homeland security.
