At USC, home of the Southern California Earthquake Center-which is, in turn, the home of the Earthquake Country Alliance and the ShakeOut—organizers of the drill will host a kick-off event. A delegation of ShakeOut leaders from Japan, which suffered a 9.0 magnitude earthquake in March 2011, has traveled to USC to witness and participate in the event.

Members of the media are invited to observe the kick-off event. Reporters are asked to RSVP to Lance Webster at mediarelations@shakeout.org.
