He is internationally recognized in the field of care for youth with HIV and transgender youth; his research interests include emergency contraception and adolescent medicine. He can address the recent American Academy of Pediatrics article recommending pediatricians and physicians prescribe emergency contraception in advance to youth to help curb teen pregnancy. "Children's Hospital Los Angeles research with parenting teens has demonstrated that the provision of an advanced supply of emergency contraception is an important tool in reducing the instance of unplanned pregnancy," said Belzer.
