Panel discussion
brings together health care policy leaders to discuss challenges and
opportunities of California health benefit exchange
WHAT: A roundtable discussion about the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in California, particularly the state's efforts to create a health insurance exchange that makes it easier for state residents to access affordable, high quality care. The exchange aims to increase the number of insured Californians, lower health care costs and reduce disparities by making it easier for residents to compare health insurance plans and purchase the appropriate level of coverage.
"Covered California: The Challenges and Opportunities of California's Health Benefit Exchange" features the executive director of the California Health Benefit Exchange, Peter V. Lee, JD '93, in conversation with Bob Kocher, who served as special assistant to President Obama for health care from 2009-2010 as a member of the National Economic Council, and Dana Goldman, Director of the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics. The conversation will be moderated by Jay Hansen, MPA '98, Chief Strategy Officer of the California Medical Association.
