TOMORROW: High School Girls Learn about Politics and Public Service from Female Politicos

USC's Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics provides high school girls with the tools they need to run for office through a daylong event at USC featuring female political leaders

WHAT: In an effort to encourage more young women to seek out leadership positions in politics, more than 75 high school girls from across California will converge at USC to receive hands-on training from female elected officials and policymakers.

The second annual Young Women's Political Leadership Program will include sessions on: Why We Need More Young Women in Political Office; Crafting Your Message and Giving Your Elevator Speech; and Networking, Campaigning and Fundraising 101.

MORE: The Young Women's Political Leadership Program: California Edition is hosted by USC's Unruh Institute of Politics, Running Start, California Women Lead and USC's Women's Student Assembly.

Running Start is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to educating young women about politics and inspiring them to run for elected office.

California Women Lead is a non-partisan association of women committed to encouraging and training women to be leaders in their communities by running for office or applying for an appointment.

• USC's Women's Student Assembly addresses the emerging concerns of USC women by working to strengthen the network of female students, faculty, staff, and organizations and seeking to raise the awareness, impact, and voices of USC women.

• USC's Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics motivates students to become active in the world of politics and encourages public officials to participate in the daily life of USC.
