Denim Gurus: USC Welcomes "Captains of Fashion Industry"

What: "Captains of the Fashion Industry" public lecture featuring gurus of denim. Twenty-two percent of all garments in California are denim, and the industry leaders' visions have widespread implications for both business and fashion.

Who:

  • Adriano Goldschmied, the name behind The Gap, Diesel, AG, Adriano Goldschmied Jeans, Goldsign, A Gold E and others
  • Jerome Dahan, founder and CEO of Citizens of Humanity

When: April 27, 2009, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: USC University Park Campus, Harris Hall, Gin D. Wong Auditorium (Room 101)

How: According to USC alumnus Mark Werts, founder and CEO of American Rag CIE and sponsor of the lecture, bringing people to campus to share personal stories about a broad range of industries offers tremendous value to M.B.A.s and other students, who get a window into real-world experiences -- what Werts calls the "blood and guts" of running a business. It also allows students to see firsthand the critical importance of "following your heart and doing things with passion."

"Captains of the Fashion Industry" is organized with support from the USC Marshall School of Business and the USC Roski School of Fine Arts.
