The event, which recognizes students who are engaged in Web-based multimedia projects that span academic and professional disciplines, was sponsored March 26 by the Academic Culture Initiative and the Center for Scholarly Technology.
This years contest encouraged students to enter projects that included the use of digital video, audio, photography and blogs (journals available on the Web).
The grand prize entry was The City of Troy, created by Jonathan Vidar, Trevor Muirhead and Brian Olsen.
The City of Troy started as a project for an archaeology class in which we were instructed to recreate an ancient city based on the existing excavation reports, Vidar said. We took this one step further and actually looked into all the evidence relating to Troy, from the physical findings to the descriptions of Homer.
