Two Health Sciences Campus award winners were among the more than 200 guests who attended the annual Good Neighbors Volunteer Awards banquet April 13 at Town and Gown. The affair honored volunteers who have made a difference in local neighborhoods.

Sponsored by USC External Relations, Student Affairs and USC College, the annual event recognized faculty, staff, students, alumni and neighborhood residents for their outstanding individual volunteer achievements.

Honorees received plaques and $250 donations to a non-profit organization of their choice.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the first “Trojan Family Spirit Award” to John Hisserich, associate vice president for health affairs, for his long-time volunteer activities in Boyle Heights, Lincoln Heights and other parts of Los Angeles.

Over the past 30 years, Hisserich has established longstanding community relationships and served on a number of boards and commissions.

Todd Forman, assistant professor of clinical family medicine at the Keck School, , was honored with the “USC Faculty/Staff Award” for his volunteer efforts with the 4th and 5th Annual Health Fairs.

The “Non-Resident Volunteer Award” was presented to Roberto Ceja of the East Los Angeles Occupational Center.
