09/21/07
The International Academy of Cardiology recently honored Uri Elkayam, professor of cardiovascular medicine and director of the Heart Failure Program in the Keck School of Medicine.

The Distinguished Fellowship Awards were bestowed for the first time on August 6 during the 13th World Congress on Heart Disease in Vancouver. A faculty panel of over 140 scientists and cardiologists honored Elkayam and two other colleagues with the award, which celebrates Academy faculty members who have made profound contributions to cardiovascular medicine and provided important services to the Academy.

Elkayam, also a member of the Academy’s scientific advisory board, said he was very proud to have been honored at the prestigious event.

“I have supported this impressive organization and this superb scientific meeting for many years,” he said. “It’s great to know that they in turn support me; it’s very nice to know that your contribution is being noticed by your peers.”
