Neuroscience, heart meetings draw USC scientists, physicians

Matters of the Heart...

About 3,000 scientists from around the world presented abstracts of their work at the 68th annual Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association, earlier this week (Nov. 13 - 16) in Anaheim.

Among them were these dozen experts from USC, covering topics ranging from angioplasty and hypertension, to basic research in cardiopulmonary development:

Anthony Chandraratna, Spencer Danto, Uri Elkayam, David Faxon, Sameh Gadallah, David Kawanishi, Dieter Kramsch;

Also:

Onkar Marwah, Koonlawee Nademanee, Henry Sucov, Konstantinos Vlachonassios and Yibin Zhang.

...and Mind

Also this week, the Society for Neuroscience-the largest professional organization for scientists studying anything to do with the nervous system- had its 25th annual meeting in San Diego.

A number of USC scientists were in attendance, sharing the results of their work on such subjects as Lou Gehrig's disease, neuroreceptors and epilepsy.

Included among the principal investigators whose laboratories' contributed to various poster sessions at the meeting were:

Roberta Brinton, Michael Cullen, Scott Grafton, and Steven Schreiber.
