Several members of the USC Cardiovascular Thoracic Institute discussed innovations in the management of heart failure, one of the most common causes of hospitalizations in the U.S. Uri Elkayam, (right) professor of medicine and director of the Keck School’s heart failure program, was director.

More than 450 health professionals attended the Keck School of Medicine’s annual Heart Failure symposium on Feb. 2, making it the largest local heart failure symposium in the nation. The division of cardiovascular medicine and the office of Continuing Medical Education hosted the symposium. A group of nationally known speakers from several academic institutions around the country participated in the symposium at Millennium Biltmore hotel in Los Angeles.
