L.A. County Honors USC Caregivers
USC Gerontology Center and L.A. Caregiver Resource Center are recognized by the board of supervisors.
The Los Angeles Country board of supervisors recognized the USC Andrus Gerontology Center and the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center for their outstanding contribution to the community on behalf of family caregivers at a ceremony held Nov. 18 in downtown Los Angeles.
The honorary certificate, signed by four supervisors, acknowledged the USC center for offering “programs and services that provide caregivers the support and encouragement they need.”
Representing the center at the ceremony was director Donna Benton, a research assistant professor at the USC Davis School of Gerontology, along with Shawn Herz, director of program development.
“It’s truly an honor to be recognized for the work that we do and for our commitment to family caregivers,” Herz said.
“Throughout the month we promoted four principles for caregivers: believing in themselves, protecting their health, reaching out for help and speaking out for their rights,” Benton said.
California now has 11 caregiver resource centers offering services in every region of the state.
