USC hosts national cardiology forum

03/02/01

USC cardiologists recently hosted a popular course to bring physicians up to speed on the hot topic of heart failure.

Uri Elkayam, director of the Heart Failure Program at USC, led the "Heart Failure 2001: An Update on Therapy" conference at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel on Jan. 27.

The event managed to pack eleven formal presentations and six case studies into about seven hours, covering heart failure-related topics from sleep disturbances to innovative surgical techniques.

"About 430 people attended, making it the largest local heart failure conference in the nation," Elkayam said.
