International Business Times highlighted the online education programs of the USC Rossier School and the USC School of Social Work, stating that many students are attracted to online college courses because they can earn credit at top schools like USC. The story mentioned U.S. News & World Report's recent online education rankings, which featured several USC programs.

Los Angeles Times featured research by Heinz-Josef Lenz of the Keck School of USC on the effects of a new drug for advanced colorectal cancer. The drug, regorafenib, appears to slow tumor growth and extend life. Lenz said that chemotherapy and other medications can extend life, but alternatives are needed for when those fail. "I think this is a new tool in the armamentarium for patients with this disease," he said.

Politico highlighted a visit by Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, to the USC School of Social Work. Jill Biden will participate in a roundtable discussion about the Building Capacity in Military-Connected Schools Program, a four-year, $7.6 million project in partnership with USC to create a national prototype addressing the special needs of military students. The project is funded by the Department of Defense Education Activity.

ABC News' "Good Morning America" interviewed David Agus of the Keck School of USC about his new book, "The End of Illness." Agus spoke about finding calcifications in reporter Bill Weir's heart. Agus said that heart attack rates are higher in people who have jobs that involve sitting all day. "An hour at the gym, awesome -- but you negate it by sitting at the desk," Agus noted.
