Hispanic Business mentioned that the USC Viterbi School was featured in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of Best Online Education Programs. The USC Viterbi School ranked No. 1 on the list Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs, and No. 1 among Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs.
Deadline Hollywood reported that the nominees for the 25th annual USC Libraries’ Scripter Award are the authors and screenwriters of “Argo,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “Perks of Being a Wallflower” and “Silver Linings Playbook.” “Perks” has the same author and screenwriter, USC alumnus Stephen Chbosky. The award, bestowed by the Friends of the USC Libraries, will be presented at an awards ceremony in Doheny Memorial Library on February 9.
Visalia Times-Delta highlighted research by James Birren, professor and dean emeritus of the USC Davis School, finding that older people who keep a daily journal or write autobiographies are better able to maintain a healthy mental attitude and active lifestyle. The story noted that Birren likes to use the following quote in his classes: “Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.”
