Hidden in the Traudt & Traudt Software WWW page is the World Wide Quilting Page. This is a home grown information and artspace about quiltmaking. Techniques, quilt history, a directory of quilt stores and actual pictures of quilts are a few of the vast resources available at this site. Some of the information may come from, or be related to the QuiltNet listserv housed at the University of Kentucky, and other quilt related discussion groups such as the newsgroup, rec.crafts.textiles.quilting. The Quilting Page also includes various FAQs related to quiltmaking.
The links on this page include the following:
This resource is extremely rich and full of links to other sources. One resource is the DesignBoard, which gives quiltmakers the opportunity to have quilts displayed on this Web page. I contacted Sue Traudt and found her to be helpful and happy to work with people who want their quilts displayed. The DesignBoard includes an image, as well as a brief description of the name of the quilt, the owner, and the maker.
Another link under the DesignBoard is called Anne G's Quilt Pictures, which is a test area. Here more quilts are displayed and some are in a variety of formats, such as GIF, and JPEG. None of the pictures load automatically. There are close ups of some of the quilts, which show more of the detail. Brief descriptions of the quilts are also included.
Lynx works on this page, but the resources look a lot better when a graphical browser is used. Having only a textual browser does not preclude users from gleaning information from this site.
The pictures vary in size.
A link to FTP Quilting Files can be found on the main page of this site.
