The Infofilter Project was begun to provide librarians and others with timely and accurate reviews of Internet resources. Volunteer project participants from the library world were to identify objective criteria for Internet resource reviews, create and revise reviews of Internet resources, and participate in the editorial process for Internet resource reviews. That was the plan.Sadly, the reality was something quite different. Innovative at the time (late 1995) of its creation, there were soon other competing projects out there that had funding and resources . But to paraphrase Tennessee Williams, always relying on the kindness of a shifting stable ofvolunteer reviewers soon created a problem: how to stay current in the most fluid medium the world has ever seen. Sadly, the answer was: we couldn't.
Our thanks to those who stuck with the project through all the ups and downs.
